HIGHWAY 99; SS/#6155; STOCXTON
PLAN FOR: PRELIMINARY WORK PLAN SUBMITTED BY: GETTLER-RYAN, INC.
FOR: SOIL SAMPLING REQUIREMENTS DUE TO TANK CLOSURE ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED JUNE,
1986
Please be advised that this office has reviewed the above referenced Work Plan. We
have found the plan to be adequate provided the following considerations are
addressed.
1: Section III, page 2: Address how soil cuttings and bailed water
encountered during boring/well construction/sampling shall be containerized and how
these containers will be disposed. All manifests shall be submitted to the San
Joaquin Local Health District within 30 days of disposal.
2: Section IV, page 4: Identify the specific method(s) to be used in the
soils and water sampling analyses.
3: Section IV, page 5, Item C: In the event free product is encountered
during boring/well construction, sampling of the municipal well less than 500 feet
to the north of the parcel shall be sampled for EPA 601/602 and the results
included in this Preliminary Assessment Report.
4: Provide to the San Joaquin Local Health District the following items to
complete the application for monitoring well permit process: a) identify the well
driller contracted to perform the construction and have contractor submit current
licence and proof of current workmen's compensation insurance, b) owner shall sign
and return the enclosed "Authorization to Release Analytical Data" form, and c)
Contractor issued monitoring well permit shall provide a minimum of 48-hour advance
notice for inspection requests.
These issues should be addressed in a revised sampling plan which must be submitted
to this office for approval prior to initiating the work plan.
It should be noted that additional sampling may be necessary should the results of
the sampling effort not adequately define the extent of contamination.
COPY
