(264 g) <br />- - - <br />15 <br />(1) Working life is the time it takes a properly <br />mixed can of adhesive to "set up" at 757. <br />Number of bonds is based on the volume in the <br />kit and must be completed within the working <br />life of the kit. <br />(2) Solvent does not come with the adhesive kits; (3) Not recommended for 2", 3", and 4" (50 num, <br />it must be ordered separately. 75 mm, and 100 mm) installations because of the <br />large quantity of adhesive per kit. <br />• Cut off contaminated surface and replace with a new <br />taper or sleeve coupling. <br />• Wire bushes may be used for cleaning T.A.B. surfaces; <br />however, they must be clean and free of oily contami- <br />nation. <br />• Dirt contamination can be removed by water washing. <br />Be sure the surfaces are dry before bonding. <br />Note: Using solvent as a cleaning method is optional. <br />If preferred by the customer, use solvent. 1,1,1 <br />trichloroethane solvent is available from Smith <br />Fiberglass Products. Some alternate cleaning solvents <br />available through local hardware or industrial supply <br />houses are acetone, alcohol, methylene chloride, and <br />methyl ethyl ketone. After cleaning, be sure any resid- <br />ual solvent has evaporated before applying adhesive. <br />DO NOT USE SOLVENTS THAT LEAVE AN OILY <br />FILM ON THE BONDING SURFACES. <br />WARNING: <br />Some de- <br />greasers and <br />solvents are <br />extremely <br />flammable. <br />Be sure to read <br />warning labels <br />on containers. <br />Never use <br />gasoline, tur- <br />pentine, or <br />diesel fuel to <br />clean joints. <br />FIGURE 1.6.5 <br />10 E Installation Instructions <br />11 <br />• <br />• <br />
