SAN JOAf IN REGIONAL
RAIL COMMISSION
1 1I)
1610 E.HAZELTON AVENUE
5 OCKTON,CALIFORNIA 95201 Af1((: 3(
(209)468-3025 / FAX(209)468-8455
Public Notice of Availability
of Draft Environmental Assessment (EA)/Draft Section 4(f) Evaluation
A Draft EA and Draft Section 4(f) have been prepared, in compliance with the
National Environmental Policy Act, for the project listed below. The draft
documents have been prepared because federal funding is involved in designing
and planning the project and acquiring the property.
The City of Lodi proposes to relocate the former Southern Pacific (SP)Passenger
Depot Building approximately 400 feet to the south of it's current location where
it will serve as the centerpiece of a proposed Multimodal Station. Rail passenger
parking for 50 cars will be positioned north of the Depot with bus and dial-a-ride
facilities occupying the site along the tracks south of the Depot. Directly west of
the Depot will be a small landscaped plaza facing Sacramento Street and a
pedestrian island with 6 bus bays for local Lodi transit. Other architectural
elements joining the SP Depot on the plaza will be small south annex housing
local transit (dial-a-ride) facilities, a police bike patrol office, a clock tower, and
a future one story bus/commercial building north of the Depot (north annex). The
proposed multimodal station will serve existing and anticipated local and regional
transit services.
The Draft documents concluded that the project would have an adverse effect on
the depot because the depot is eligible for inclusion in the National Register of
Historic Places. However, mitigation measures to reduce the effect have been
incorporated into the project. Therefore, the project would not result in
significant residual impacts to the depot. Other environmental resources would
not be significantly affected by the proposed action.
COMMISSIONERS The Draft reports and supporting documents can be reviewed or purchased at the
ROBERT J.CABRAL City of Lodi (221 West Pine Street in Lodi) and at the San Joaquin Regional Rail
San Joaquin County Commission (1810 E.
