ARCADIS Ms. Kathryn Dominic <br /> November 5, 2010 <br /> ' Response:Semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs; including PAHs and <br /> naphthalene) and metals were sampled during previous site assessments <br /> ' summarized in the following reports and are provided in the listed attachments: <br /> • In 1987, five samples were collected from the Toxic Pit Cleanup Act(TPCA) pond <br /> ' during the 1988 Hydraulic Assessment completed by Terranext and analyzed for <br /> PAHs. Data for these samples are summarized in the,"Phase III Biotreatment <br /> Report, Southern Pacific Transportation Company, Tracy Yard," prepared by <br /> Terranext and dated January 30, 1997("the Phase III report";Terranext 1997a). <br /> ' Copies of data tables summarizing PAH data in soil are included in Attachment 2. <br /> • In 1992, 26 soil samples were analyzed for SVOCs as part of the Remedial <br /> Investigation(RI)completed by Industrial Compliance(IC). SVOC data was <br /> ' summarized in the, "Remedial Investigation (RI) Report, Southern Pacific <br /> Transportation Company, Tracy Yard," prepared by IC and dated May 2, 1994 <br /> ("the RI report"; IC 1994). Copies of data tables and figures summarizing SVOC <br /> ' concentrations in soil are included in Attachment 2. <br /> In 1995, 15 soil samples were analyzed for total PAHs and soluble PAHs during a <br /> supplemental PAH evaluation completed by Terranext. Supplemental PAH data <br /> t was summarized in the Phase III report(Terranext 1997a). Copies of data tables <br /> and figures summarizing the supplemental PAH concentrations in soil are included <br /> in Attachment 2. <br /> ' • In 1994, 1996 and 1997, 47 A-and B-zone monitoring wells were sampled for <br /> PAHs by Terranext and Environmental Resource Management(ERM). <br /> Groundwater data from the 1994 and 1996 sampling events were summarized in <br /> ' the, "TPH Position Paper, Southern Pacific Transportation Company, Tracy Yard," <br /> prepared by Terranext and dated May 5, 1997 (Terranext 1997b). <br /> In addition, groundwater data from the 1997 sampling event was summarized in <br /> the, "1997 Annual Monitoring Report,"prepared by ERM and dated March 12, <br /> 1998 (ERM 1998). Copies of data tables and figures summarizing PAH <br /> concentrations in groundwater are included in Attachment 3. <br /> ' • During 1987, 1990, 1992, and 1993 soil investigations, seven metals(Cadmium, <br /> Chromium, Lead, Nickel, Zinc, Organic Lead and Hexavalent Chromium)were <br /> analyzed in 88 samples. The metal data was summarized in the RI report(IC <br /> ' 1994). Data tables summarizing metal concentrations in soil are included in <br /> Attachment 4. <br /> • Between the third quarter 1990 and third quarter 1993, three metals (Chromium, <br /> ' Hexavalent Chromium and Lead)were analyzed in groundwater samples collected <br /> from 35 wells.
