CL Properties, VI E37801.02A
December 6, 1999 Page 4
After completion of the soil sampling, the sampling points will be backfilled with a neat cement
slurry. Backfill will be placed in one continuous operation from the bottom to the top of the
borehole.
Due to the nature of the sampling,no cuttings from the installation of the soil vapor sampling points
will be generated.
4.2 Laboratory Testing Program: Soil vapor samples collected from the area of the former dry
cleaner facility and adjacent (across West Sonora Street) current dry cleaner facility will be tested
in the laboratory for halogenated volatile organic constituents (HVOCs) including,
tetrachloroethylene (PCE), trichloroethylene (TCE), vinyl chloride, Stoddard solvent, and other
HVOCs. Proposed preparation and analytical methods for the laboratory analyses are summarized
in Table 1.
TABLE 1
Preparation and Anal 'cal Methods
Type of Analysis Analytical Method Method Detection Limit
Soil Sample Analyses
Stoddard Solvent 8260 l µg/L
Halogenated Volatile Organic Compounds 8015M I to 5 µg/L
(HVOCS)
µg/L = micrograms per liter
Star Laboratories is a California Department ofHealth Services certified hazardous waste laboratory
(Certificate No. 2250) for the analyses outlined herein. A description of laboratory quality
assurance/quality control procedures proposed for the analyses are described in the SOPS presented
in Appendix B.
4.3 Technical Report: Upon completion of field and laboratory activities,a technical report will
be prepared summarizing results and findings (including the laboratory analytical reports).
Evaluations will be provided regarding the existence of HVOCs in subsurface soil.
Recommendations, as warranted, will be presented to the SJCEHD for either a statement of"no
further action required", or the need for additional assessment and/or remedial action.
5.0 SITE SAFETY PLAN
The site safety plan for Twining personnel assigned to this project is presented in Appendix C.
6.0 LIMITATIONS
The proposed work is intended to be an interactive process. Additional work may be required to
more fully assess the extent of halogenated volatile organic constituent migration in soil. The
purpose of a geologic/hydrogeologic study is to reasonably characterize existing site conditions
