!! 0•
1.0 SUMMARY
During September, 1987 Ccrrpro Companies, Inc. performed c=csion
evaluat ons and hydrocarbon detection on one chaster of ten tanks in
Stockton, California for Morton Paint Company. Field testing consisted of
collecting site information, performing sail borings, and recoding corrosion
measurements. Chemical tests were conducted in the laboratory on the soil
samples collected from the borings.
All data was then analyzed, including the use of a computer model to
calculate the Mean Time to Corm Failure. A Priority Index was
established for the tanks and recommendations presented for an Integrity
Assurance Program.
The test results indicate a low priority index for this cluster of tanks. Based
upon the evaluation, recommendations are presented for ensuring the systems
are presently tight and installing cathodic protection as part of a Tanis
Integrity Assurance Program.
2.0 INTRODUCTION
During September, 1987 Corrpro Companies, Inc. performed corrosion
evaluations and hydrocarbon detection on underground tanks at one location,
cotes of tan tanks for Marton Paint Company, Stockton, California.
Soil boring tests, electrical field testing, and chemical soil sample analyses
were performed to determine the mean time to corrosion failure (M T C F) and
priority index (PI) at each location. Site information was recorded with
resect to adjacent utilities, surrounding buildings and water supplies. The
tanks were sticked to determine the depth and the roughness of the internal
tank suxfaoe immediately below the fill pipe. Test hobs were , drilled
approximately one foot from the side wall of the tanks to a depth of two
feet below the deepest tank. At two foot inks, tank-to-soil potentials
and sail resistivity measurements were recorded in place. Soil samples were
collected at the mid-point and the bottom of the boring. These were then
sent to the Corrpro sails laboratory for measurement of moisture convent,
