Box 757
Ripon, CA 95366
Dear Dennis :
SUBJECT: PROPOSAL FOR SERVICES - BURIED TANK SOIL INVESTIGATION
This letter is a work outline for soil sampling and testing of
samples from two buried-tank sites at your Ripon facility.
The scope of work is in response to your letter of June 6 , 1988
to Jaime Favila of the San Joaquin Local Health District, and to
Favila ' s memorandum to you dated May 24, 1988.
It would be our intent to sample the two sites at the end of our
work installing the ground-water monitoring wells. Our estimate
of when we will do the soil sampling is towards the end of this
month.
Because the tanks were only about 3 to 4 feet in diameter,
samples will be taken at about 6 feet. It is only proposed to
take one sample at each site, although if there is any indication
by smell or sight that leakage has occurred we will take
additional samples at greater depth.
Samples will be taken by a split-spoon sampler through a hollow-
stem auger. After retrieval , samples will immediately be
transferred to air-tight jars.
Samples will be sent to a certified laboratory and the following
tests will be conducted:
Site 1 - BTX, TPHC, Lead, EDB, and tetraethyl lead
Site 2 - BTX, TPHC, Chlorinated solvents, PCB
Very truly yours,
David A. Lawrence
cc : Jaime Favila
