LAWRENCE, C.E.G.618 <br /> �sas <br /> September 15 , 1988 SEP 21 C88.08 .01 <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL LTH <br /> I SERVICES <br /> Mr. Jaime Favila <br /> San Joaquin Local Health District <br /> 1601 Hazelton Av. <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> Dear Mr. Favilla: <br /> SUBJECT: RESULTS OF BORINGS AT TWO UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK <br /> SITES, SIMPSON PAPER COMPANY MILL, RIPON <br /> This letter presents the findings of borings and analyses <br /> conducted at the Simpson Paper Company, Ripon Mill, underground <br /> storage tank removal site. <br /> The borings were conducted to collect soil samples for analyses <br /> of gasoline type constituents pursuant to the closure plan, <br /> dated August 15 , 1988 . <br /> Borings were drilled at the locations designated UST 1 and UST 2 <br /> ( shown on the enclosed well permit forms ) on August 29 , 1988 . <br /> The hollow-stem auger method was used to drill each hole to a <br /> depth of 9 feet. The hole diameter was 8 inches. <br /> A clean bit and clean augers were used for each hole. <br /> The boring logs for the two holes are shown on attached pages. <br /> After reaching the desired depth, a 2-1 /2-inch split-spoon <br /> sampler was inserted into the center of the auger and driven into <br /> the bottom of the hole to collect a relatively undisturbed <br /> sample. <br /> The samples were collected from 9 feet to a depth of 10-1 /2 feet , <br /> and then were sealed in appropriate containers and mailed via 24- <br /> hour delivery to Curtis & Tompkins Laboratory in Berkeley, along <br /> with a chain-of-custody form. <br /> The analyses and chain-of-custody form are included and show <br /> concentrations of all compounds analyzed are below detection <br /> limits. <br /> I <br />
