The buddy system <br />as defined in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and 8 CCR 5192 will be used during all activities. <br />• Smoking, eating, drinking, and chewing gum or tobacco will not be permitted within the work <br />zones in accordance with 8 CCR 5192. <br />• Personnel should keep track of weather conditions and as defined in 8 CCR 5192 (c)(4) and 8 <br />CCR 5192 (e)(2) wind direction to the extent they could affect potential exposure. <br />+ Personnel should be alert to any abnormal behavior on the part of other workers that might <br />indicate distress, disorientation, or other ill effects as described in 8 CCR 5192 (a-3). <br />• Personnel should never ignore symptoms which could indicate potential exposure to chemical <br />contaminants in accordance with 8 CCR 5192 (f -2c). These should be immediately reported to <br />their supervisor or the DHSO. <br />Excavation and trenching will be performed in accordance with applicable sections of 8 CCR, <br />Division 1, Chapter 4 (Division of Industrial Safety). <br />+ Discontinue any operations that could lead to injury or illness or property damage. <br />+ Wear protective equipment or employ proper protection procedures required for a particular job <br />in accordance with 8 CCR 5192 (c -5)(g-3). Avoid wearing jewelry and/or loose clothing around <br />equipment. <br />• Promptly report any occupational injury, illness or exposure to toxic materials to supervisor and <br />the DHSO. If injured, get first aid. <br />Promptly inform the supervisor whenever new substances, processes or equipment that could <br />give rise to new safety and health hazards are encountered as described in 8 CCR 3203. <br />L:150000\504411WP15044lk27.doc 6 <br />
