LIQUID AND VAPOR MONITORING <br /> The system consist of three main components: <br /> An Alarm Monitor, a Sensor installed within the <br /> LEAK-X Petroprobe and a LEAK-X Control Cable. <br /> Mode of operation <br /> System works on the principle of conduction. <br /> Typical water is a conductive, or polar fluid. <br /> Hydrocarbons are non-conductive, or non-polar, <br /> substances. The system circuitry can differentiate <br /> between polar and non-polar fluids and provide the <br /> appropriate alarms and contact closures when a <br /> non-polar fluid is detected. <br /> System probes use the fact that hydrocarbons float <br /> on water. The probe sensors monitor the fluid <br /> conductivity at the air-water interface. <br /> Hydrocarbons appearing at the air-water interface <br /> displace the probe float until the probe sensors <br /> become immersed in hydrocarbons, at which time <br /> the system alarms. <br /> .a <br />
