ANNEX A <br /> PERSONNEL EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: <br /> a. Personnel working in such tanks will wear rubber boots, fresh <br /> air masks , life lines , and clean clothing with no metal buttons <br /> or fittings. A copper rivet will be driven into the heels of <br /> rubber boots to provide a ground or discharge of static <br /> electricity which may accumulate on personnel wearing safety <br /> equipment. <br /> b. Fresh air will be supplied to the mask though a hose with a <br /> positive displacement air blower to the windward side of manhole <br /> in tank. Adequate power operated blowers are responsible for the <br /> air supply until personnel wearing mask have left the tank and <br /> removed face piece. Securely attach one end being held by an <br /> attendant stationed on the tank to assist in his removal, if <br /> necessary. <br /> EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS : <br /> a. Canister type masks will not be used in lieu of masks <br /> equipped with hose supplying fresh air. <br /> b. Use non-ferrous tools for cleaning surfaces of rust, <br /> sediment, etc. <br /> C. Use only cotton cloths for cleaning purposes. Other cloths <br /> tend to generate static electricity. <br /> d. Lights of approved explosion-proof type only will be used. <br /> e. Discontunue cleaning operations while electric storm is <br /> threatening or in progress. <br /> f . Personnel on this operation are prohibited from wearing wool, <br /> nylon, silk, rayon, and/or other static producing material. <br /> Cotton cloth is the only recommended type of clothing. <br />
