SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES <br /> SAMPLING PROTOCAL FOR ROUTINE TANK REMOVALS <br /> The following represents minimum sampling criterion required for closure compliance. <br /> Soil samples collected shall be representative of native soils beneath the tank's <br /> invert [tank's bottom] at a collection depth not to exceed 2 - 4 feet. If contamination <br /> is documented during closure, an Unauthorized Release Notification must be completed and <br /> submitted within 5 working days. California Health & Safety Code-Sec. 25295. <br /> WATER NOT PRESENT IN THE TANK PIT <br /> TANK SIZE MINIMUM NUMBER of LOCATION of SOIL SAMPLE <br /> SOIL SAMPLES <br /> LESS THAN 1,000 GALLONS ONE per tank Fill or pump end of tank <br /> 1,000 - 10,000 GALLONS TWO per tank One at each end of tank <br /> 10,001 GALLONS and UP THREE or MORE Ends and Middle or <br /> per tank generally spaced along <br /> the length of the tank <br /> PIPING ONE per EVERY 20 LINEAL FEET <br /> WATER IS PRESENT IN TANK PIT <br /> TANK SIZE MINIMUM NO. of LOCATION of SOIL ofINIMUM WATER NUMBER <br /> SOIL SAMPLES SAMPLES <br /> PLES <br /> 10,000 GALLONS From wall next to <br /> or LESS tank ends at soil/ <br /> (Single Tank) TWO groundwater ONE <br /> interface <br /> GREATER THAN From wall next to <br /> 10,000 GALLONS FOUR tank ends at soil/ <br /> or <br /> groundwater ONE <br /> TANK CLUSTER interface <br /> SLAB PRESENT IN TANK PIT <br /> Soil samples shall be obtained beneath the slab within native soils.
