Use wood bull floats or <br /> wood darbies to smooth surface , free of humps or hollows . <br /> Complete leveling before free moisture rises to the <br /> surface ( bleeding ) . Do not disturb slab surfaces prior <br /> to beginning finishing operations . <br /> 11 . 9 . $ Maintain reinforcing in proper position during concrete <br /> placement operations . <br /> 11 . 10 Finish of Formed Surfaces : <br /> 11 . 10 . 1 Smooth Form Finish : For formed concrete surfaces <br /> exposed-to-view . This is as -cast concrete surface <br /> obtained with selected form facing material , arranged <br /> orderly and symmetrically with a minimum of seams . <br /> Repair and patch defective areas with fins or other <br /> projections completely removed and smoothed . <br /> 11 . 11 Concrete Curing and Protection : <br /> 11 . 11 . 1 General : Protect freshly placed concrete from premature <br /> drying and excessive cold or hot temperatures . <br /> 11 . 11 . 2 Provide curing compound to slabs as follows : Apply <br /> specified curing and sealing compound to concrete slabs <br /> as soon as final finishing operations are complete <br /> ( within 2 hours ) . Apply uniformly in continuous <br /> operation by power- spray or roller in accordance with <br /> manufacturer ' s directions . Recoat areas subjected to <br /> heavy rainfall within 3 hours after initial application. <br /> Maintain continuity of coating and repair damage which <br /> has occured during the curing period . Keep floors <br /> covered and free of traffic and loads for at least 10 <br /> days after their completion . Adequate provision shall <br /> be made for maintaining the concrete temperature at 50 ° F <br /> ( 10°C ) or above during the curing period . <br /> 11 . 12 Re-Use of Forms : <br /> Clean and repair surfaces of forms to be re-used in work. <br /> Split , frayed , delaminated , or otherwise damaged form <br /> facing material will not be acceptable for exposed <br /> surfaces . <br /> XI-6 <br />
