CERTIFIED
• ENVIRONMENTAL
CORPORATION R E C L I V E L
12 October 1993 11WR 2 5 1994
'IrFfi Dlrol_ 1r4l)USTRIES
Mr. Mike Mc Clymont
American Medical Response, Inc.
58 Longview Terrace
Ridgefield, Connecticut 06877
(617) 261-1600
Subject: Life Medical Facility - East Main St. Stockton, CA
Dear Mr. Mc Clymont,
Authorization to examine subject property was received Monday Oct. 11, 1993 Via
Mr. Rod Jenks Jr. of Wendel, Rosen, Black, Dean, & Levitan in Oakland, Ca at 8:30 AM.
CEC was given the Life Medical on site contact of Mr. Mike Nilssen (209) 339-4028. Contact
was made and the site work commenced at about 11:30 AM.
Scope of work was to determine if any gross contamination might occur due to the past use
of the site as a service station. The work was to consist of a hand auger boring down gradient
from underground tanks located at the site and now closed. Approximate ground water gradient
was established and the approximate U/G tank locations were indicated by Mr. Nilssen. The
reported U/G tank location is indicated on Photograph # 8. Boring #1 located in Photograph
96 is in our professional opinion down gradient from all possible U/G tanks on site. The
gradient is based on past experience with petroleum U/G tanks and/or wells in the area, and
the Central Valley State Water Board. CEC has about 2000 such U/G tanks under contract at
any given time. Boring # 1 was completed to 15 feet. Very stiff clay was encountered from
about 6 feet to 15, and it would be very unusual for petroleum contamination to migrate any
distance in this substrate. This sample was tested by the laboratory and was N.D. It was
determined that a boring would also be completed closer to the reported tank location and
boring # 2 was completed to a depth of 12 feet. (Photo # 8) This sample #2 was also tested
and the report indicated N. D. Heavy clay was also found in this location. It is our
professional opinion that if any leakage occurred form tanks found in the reported locations
that it is contained and has not migrated any distance, and is not significant.
The Complete Phase I survey should indicate the exact locations of all buried tanks on this site
and may alter these findings if there are any tanks located at grossly different locations. If
these tanks were properly closed there should be the closure reports on file with the county
Health Department.
3160 Grow Canyon Road Fax
1510) 867-0322
Fax (510) 867-0915
Suite 350
(800) 447-0171
San Ramon, California 94583
