Sutter Street, Suite 215 Stockton, CA 95202 Dear Mr. Dolen: Enclosed are the analytical results for the soil samples collected from the American Savings encompasses one city blockProboundtby=MaintocCalifornia. The site Street, Street, and Market Street Sutter Street (Plate 1, Site Location Map).California On November 4, 1987 Kleinfelder screened and sampled two soil piles at the site. The soil was removed during the excavation of two underground fuel Oil tanks. The location of the two excavations are shown on Plate 2, Sample Location Map. To provide a qualitative indication of contamination and assist in sample selection for chemical analysis, a portable organic vapor detector was used to screen each of the excavated soil piles. Based on the results of the field screening, sample 32182 was collected from the stockpiled soil of the first tank excavation. Sample 32183 was collected from the stockpiled soil of the second tank excavation. The samples were collected by driving a brass tube into the soil pile. The tube was sealed with aluminum foil and tight -fitting immediately stored in an iced cooler. At the end othestic fieldaday the samples were transported under chain -of -custody to Chemwest Analytical Laboratories in Sacramento. The samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometry technique, Method 418.1 (IR). The results of the field screening and chemical analyses are presented on Table 1. Laboratory data sheets and a chain—of—custody form are included at the end of this report.
