PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY `
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H., Health Officer • a•., `}.
304 East Weber Avenue,Third Floor • Stockton, CA 95202
209/468-3420
MEMORANDUM
DATE: October 2,2001
TO: Mr.Scott Johnson
Johnson Petroleum Construction,Inc.
P.O.Box 7169
Auburn CA 95604
FROM: Letitia Briggs, Senior REHS
Environmental Health Division
304 East Weber Avenue Yd Floor
Stockton CA 95202
RE: Piping Closure, Dispenser containment upgrade, and associated
piping replacement
During my first review of the dispenser containment upgrade and associated piping replacement,I found
the following items need to be addressed prior to permit approval:
1. A Closure Plan and Closure Plan fees of $267.00 will be needed to cover the removal of existing J
piping,handling of piping,and associated piping/dispenser samples.
2. Please submit Installation Plan pages 6-8.
3. Existing piping/pump sump(on tank)is metal with a coating. As per our discussion September
25,2001,you are planning to keep this metal sump. I have reviewed the California Code of
Regulations(CCR)and found that the metal sump must be designed and certified as adequate by a
corrosion specialist according to CCR section 2635 (a)(2)(A). See enclosed CCR section.
4. Provide drawings of piping terminations at tank sump showing the joins between old and new
piping.
5. New piping must be compatible(same type)with the originally installed piping.
6. Please show how piping will run to dispensers and remote dispensing locations.
7. This list is incomplete pending review of submittals
ENC: CCR section 2635 (a)(2)(A)
Secondary containment testing required by SB 989
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
