These items are the minimum required for all personnel working at the site <br /> in work zones or areas which do not present any potential chemical <br /> exposure hazard. <br /> (a) Hard hat. <br /> (b) Work clothes (coveralls or work uniform). <br /> (c) Safety glasses or goggles. <br /> (d) Hearing protection required if noise levels exceed 90 dBA, eight <br /> (8) hour average at driller operation (or 85 dBA for workers who <br /> have not received a baseline audiogram or have a permanent <br /> threshold shift). <br /> D. Safety <br /> The following safe work practices shall be followed for all construction activities: <br /> + 1. Underground and overhead utilities shall be identified and located prior to construction. <br /> ♦ 2. Only authorized personnel shall be allowed in the work area. <br /> ♦ 3. Any drilling or excavation areas shall be clearly marked. <br /> ♦ 4. All soil staging areas shall be marked, as needed. <br /> ♦ 5. Vehicle traffic shall not be allowed in equipment operating areas. <br /> ♦ b. Unauthorized foot traffic shall not be allowed into the construction area. <br /> E. Emergency Procedures <br /> All field personnel shall comply with the following emergency procedures: <br /> 1. Safety standby equipment (include a first aid kit, fire extinguisher and a <br /> portable eye wash) shall be set up at the job site prior to the beginning of <br /> work. <br /> 2. All incidents shall be reported to the Field Supervisor immediately. <br /> 3. The Field Supervisor shall report incidents to the DEL TECH Project <br /> Manager. <br /> 4. Emergency response support including fire department and/or paramedic <br /> ambulance shall be requested as needed. (See Table 1.) <br /> 5. Emergency telephone numbers shall be indicated on Table 1. <br /> 5 <br />
