MENDOCINO AVENUE <br /> ' STOCKTON, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA 95202 <br /> Property Owner: <br /> ' University of the Pacific <br /> 3601 Pacific Avenue <br /> Stockton, California 95202 <br /> tContact person: Joe Kirim, Director <br /> Physical Plant <br /> ' (209) 946-2541 <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> Environmental Science Associates (ESA) has developed this workplan to conduct further <br /> investigation of methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) impacted soil and groundwater at 1081 W. <br /> ' Mendocino Avenue, Stockton, California (referred to herein as the "site"). The regional location <br /> map is provided in Figure 1 attached to this document. The underground storage tank (UST) <br /> removal documentation and laboratory reports for soil samples obtained during the previous UST <br /> ' removal is included as Attachment A. A site Health & Safety Plan prepared for the field portion <br /> of this project is included as Attachment B. <br /> The results of the investigation proposed under this workplan will assist to determine whether it <br /> will be necessary to conduct further investigation or remediation. The site is the former location <br /> of the University of the Pacific (UOP) Physical Plant on the north side of Mendocino Avenue <br /> within the UOP campus. An underground storage tank was removed in April 2000 from the <br /> parking lot located north of the former Physical Plant building and west of the <br /> ' Custodial/Warehouse building. The site vicinity map is provided in Figure 2 attached to this <br /> document. <br /> The following sections describe the past history of the site, the site characteristics, and <br /> concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons and MTBE in the soil that was previously identified <br /> beneath the site. Based on this information, a sampling and analysis workplan is presented that <br /> ' outlines the proposed assessment procedures. <br /> REGULATORY BACKGROUND <br /> On April 7, 2000 an underground gasoline storage tank was removed from the site.
