O.E.S.-Port Stockton
1950 Miner Avenue
Noveaber 9, 1990
Page -2-
Environmental Health Division was on site to observe the
removal of the tank and to monitor sampling procedures .
One 2 , 000-gallon tank (TK4 ) was removed from 1950 E.
Miner Ave. (Figure 3 ) . The tank had contained diesel fuel .
The soil surrounding the excavation consisted of a dark
brown, clayey, loam from the ground surface to a depth of
approximately 5 feet . Below the 5-foot depth was a brown,
clayey, fine sand. There was no visible evidence of
hydrocarbon contamination, no petroleum odor was noticed,
and no groundwater was encountered in the excavation. The
excavation was covered with two iron plates for safety and
surrounded with temporary chain-link fencing following
sampling procedures .
No holes or pits were visible in tank TK4 . Two soil
samples were taken directly from below the east and west
ends of the tank at a depth of 12 feet and labeled TK4-E and
TK4-W, respectively.
At the completion of excavation procedures, Oil
Equipment Service transported the tank to Triangle, Inc. , in
Sacramento, California, for disposal .
CONDOR
