D. Hinson -2- 11/13/89
- A permit to remove the tanks was obtained from the San Joaquin County
Health district,
gasoline odors were present when the tanks were removed,
soil samples were taken and contamination found to be limited to the top
seven feet of soil, and
contaminated soil was removed and aerated to where contamination was less
than the threshold level before being pushed back into the excavation.
We at Del Monte Foods are very concerned about contamination at our
facilities, but after completing the process just described with Exeltech, we
are not aware a problem exists. If one does, however, we will take
appropriate action.
I would appreciate a call from you to discuss this matter, especially the
reasons for concern now, and how we can clear up this issue. My phone number
is 415/442-5386.
Yours truly,
Richard W. Fish
Mgr. , Environmental Protection
RWF:lm
cc: John Fury - Stockton #33
