(Ultramar), Horizon Environmental Inc. (Horizon) conducted <br />soil sampling activities for the closure of two gasoline underground storage tank (UST) <br />systems at the subject site. Soil sampling was conducted on December 6 and 8, 2006. Soil <br />sampling was directed by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br />(SJCEHD). <br />Removal of the UST systems was conducted by Triton Construction (Triton) of Santa Cruz, <br />California. Soil sampling fieldwork was conducted in accordance with Horizon Field <br />Methods and Procedures (Attachment A) and the Horizon Site Safety Plan dated December <br />5, 2006. <br />Site Description <br />The site is located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Alameda Street with North <br />Main Street in Manteca, California as shown on Figure 1. The USTs and two dispenser <br />islands were located as shown on Figure 2. The USTs were 14,000 -gallon capacity, <br />fiberglass -coated, steel tanks and stored unleaded (UST T1) and supreme unleaded (UST <br />T2) gasoline. <br />UST Systems Removal and Soil Sampling <br />The USTs were removed on December 6, 2006. City of Manteca Fire Department (MFD) <br />Fire Marshal Randy Sutton was on site to observe fire prevention procedures prior to <br />removal of the two gasoline USTs. San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br />(SJCEHD) Inspectors Muniappa Naidu and Toua Yang, were on site to observe the removal <br />of the two gasoline USTs and to direct soil sampling activities. <br />Upon removal, the USTs appeared to be in good condition.
