Gossett, Environmental Compliance Manager <br /> Re: 16470 Cambridge Drive, Manteca, CA 95337 <br /> The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD)received a request from LC <br /> Services to change the location of the annular space sensor for the 91-octane tank(TA0506754). <br /> This request has been evaluated and is denied for the following reasons: <br /> 1. According to the letter from Del Hinkle (Field Service Coordinator, Xerxes Corporation) <br /> dated June 11, 2008, the brine level in the tank annular should reach no higher than 12 inches <br /> above the top of the tank for longer than twelve continuous hours, and should never be <br /> allowed to be over 36 inches above the tank. The proposed monitoring configuration could <br /> allow for extreme fluctuations of the brine level with no guarantee that the brine would not <br /> reach levels that could result in damage to the tank. <br /> 2. Rex Abacan, Construction Service Manager for Circle K, informed the EHD that Circle K <br /> would like to make the proposed changes and monitor the tank for a period of time to see if it <br /> works. Due to the fact that this site is located in an area with shallow groundwater and in , <br /> close proximity to private drinking water wells, the EHD cannot justify approval of an <br /> unconventional monitoring configuration for this tank.
