Lubrizol
OW
August 29, 2011
Lorraine Sabo
Engineering Manager
Franklin Fueling System
3760 Marsh Road
Madison, WI 53718
Dear Ms. Sabo:
UltraZol 9888 is a gasoline additive used to control and remove deposits on fuel injectors and
intake valves. Engines with cleaner fuel injectors and intake valves can have more complete
combustion, leading to improved fuel economy, reduced emissions and full power. The key
ingredients used to formulate UltraZol 9888 are already used in gasoline throughout the US
to meet Federal requirements and to improve gasoline quality.
The UltraZol 9888 formulation has been tested for material compatibility with elastomeric seal
materials and metals commonly used in additive handling systems and fueling systems. To
ensure compatibility with the leak detection units supplied by your company, we have
conducted additional testing of the compatibility of the UltraZol 9888 formulation with brass.
In order to maximize the contact area between the additive and the metal to form a more
severe test, we used very small pieces (swarf) of brass. We monitored the test for any
changes in the color of the brass and the color of the liquid. No problems were observed.
We also tested the liquid at the end of the test for any indications of metals in the liquid.
Based on our knowledge of the chemistry of the ingredients in UltraZol 9888 and this testing,
UltraZol 9888 is compatible with the brass contained in the leak detection unit.
Sincere%
Zoe""
Keith Corkwell
Regional Business Manager
Fuels, Refinery & Oilfield Products
KCO/rrwa
cc: Bill Nelson, Franklin Fueling
Tim Hurlocker at Costco
The Lubrizol Corporation
29400 Lakeland Boulevard
Wickliffe,OH 44092-2298
Telephone:440.943.4200
wx .lvlonzol.com
