To protect the Comcast fiber optic conduit, the tank excavation will be backfilled with two-sack concrete
sand slurry. The remainder of the excavation will be backfilled with aggregate base material and
completed with asphalt concrete.
Soil Sampling and Analysis
Soil samples will be obtained approximately 2 feet beneath the bottom of the UST excavation using the
backhoe bucket and from beneath the former dispenser pad using a hand-auger. A composite soil sample
will be obtained from the drummed tank contents material and adsorbent. The soil samples will be
collected in new stainless steel tubes, sealed at both ends with Teflon, capped, labeled, and placed in a
chilled cooler pending transport under chain-of-custody protocols to the laboratory.
The soil samples will be delivered to ATL for analysis of GRO and DRO following EPA Test Method
8O15B modified, total lead by EPA Test Method 601013, and VOCs and FOCs by EPA Test Method
8260.
Report Preparation
We will prepare a UST Removal Report to document the UST closure. Caltrans will be provided with
one copy of the draft report, and upon receipt and incorporation of Caltrans comments,we will provide
two hard copies and two electronic copies(CD)of the finalized UST Closure Report.
Please contact us if you have any questions concerning the contents of this UST Removal Workplan or
if we may be of further service.
Sincerely,
GEOCON CONSULTANTS,INC.
John E.
