Thuy Tran [EH]
From: Dan Goalwin [dgoalwin@barghausen.com]
Sent: Friday, April 27, 2012 2:36 PM
To: Thuy Tran [EH]
Cc: Sean Murphy; Pete Tobin; File; Edgar Rizkalli; Jay Grubb
Subject: Removal of Dead men Tank Anchorage-Arco am/pm Valpico Blvd and Tracy Blvd., Tracy
California BCE#14624
Attachments: 20120427141216771.pdf
Thuy, please accept this e-mail as our approval for to remove the dead-men anchors from this project. The
geotechnical soils investigation indicated the water table is below 25 feet and as such this installation is
considered a dry hole not needing dead-men hold-downs. Despite this and just to be certain, we re-ran the
buoyancy calculations to confirm there was reasonable assurance that if water were to find its way into the tank
excavation and found that due to the overburden alone, the tanks were well within a reasonable factor of safety
to avoid buoyancy. Please call if you have any questions.
Daniel B.
