r
Y
z TANK SE, NTINEL
UNIVERSAL LIQUID SENSOR
DESCRIPTION
The TSP-ULS Liquid Sensor is a low cost point liquid sensor which may
be used with all Tank Sentinel'automatic tank gauge consoles. It may
be installed in sumps, dispenser pans, steel double wall tanks,or other f
locations where the presence of liquid indicates a leak hasoccurred. The
TSP-ULS is based on float-switch technology and is made of chemically @ `>
resistant materials to assure compatibilitywith most liquids. Each sensor a
is supplied with a 25 footcable and is compatible with standard electrical SLC
boxes andfittings.TheTSP-ULS's normallyclosed outputcircuit provides
supervised operation, ensuring thatbroken wires and similar failures will
not go undetected.
APPLICATION —
The TSP-ULS may be installed in sumps and in interstitial spaces in steel
double wall tanks.A 1l2-inch NPT thread is provided on the compression
gland fitting(cord grip)attached to the sensors cable, allowing it to be THEORY OF OPERATION
suspended from standard electrical boxes and fittings. In typical
applications, the TSP-ULS is screwed into a conduit opening on the The secret to the TSP-ULS'g reliability and low cost is its float switch
bottom of a junction box located on a sump wall. The sensor may be technology.A small magnetically activated reed switch is located inside
positioned vertically by loosening the gland fitting and adjusting the the bodyofthe sensor.Tiinymagnetsarepositioned inside alight weight
length of the cable extending from ft.In steel interstitial tanks the TSP- float which is free to move up and down along the shaft of the TSP-ULS.
ULS is Iowa red into the opening provided on the tank, and is suspended If the sensor is dry,the float hangs down on the shaft so that the magnets
from the optional TSP-K12 installation kit. Many other mounting methods are below the reed switch. When the sensor is immersed in liquid, the
are possible allowing the TSP-ULS to be used in a wide variety of goat rises, and the magnet activates the reed switch. The reed switch
applications and locations. opening is used to indicate whether the sensor is wet or dry.
ORDER PART NUMBER:
WEATHERPROOF
JUNCTBOX 3
ION .5
CONDU T
Evaluated for use
-. associated equipment with
_ INCWs U.L fisted
consoles.
TsP-ULs r'a
Distributed by:
#' C'ON]
INTELLIGENT CONTROLS,INC.
P.O.
