UST Monitoring Plan • •
Stockton Service Center
VI. LEAK DETECTION RESPONSE PLAN
The following Leak Detection Response actions will be initiated when a leak is either suspected or
confirmed.
A. GASOLINE OR DIESEL FUEL STORAGE TANKS (Veeder Root Model TLS-3501:
1. When the system is operating normally, the Green POWER indicator, located in the left-center of
the front panel, will be lit
2. A leak will be suspected when a BUZZER ALARM sounds and a Red ALARM Light is lit on the
tank-monitoring panel. The identification of the activated liquid sensor, in-tank probe, or product
piping pressure transducer will be indicated in the L.E.D. display. The location of the activated
sensor will be indicated on the paper tape printout and on the location map posted on the wall
adjacent to the monitor.
3. Investigate the alarm by inspecting the appropriate sensor to determine if a leak has occurred or if
storm water runoff has entered the containment.
4. If the sensor one of the tanks' annular spaces has triggered the alarm, and liquid is present in the
annular space of the subject tank, obtain a sample, if possible, to determine whether the liquid is
petroleum product or water. If product is found, start an in-tank leak test using the TLS-350.
5. If it has been determined that the alarm condition has been caused by a product leak—or- if the
cause of the alarm condition cannot be determined, remove the tank from service pending
confirmation of the cause of the alarm condition.
6. Contact one of the two PG&E people indicated below. Provide as much detailed information as
possible.
