3. The only contact you will have with hazardous chemicals is when you check <br /> underground tank levels and clean up around pump island. <br /> 4. Measure taken to detect hazards in your workplace include: <br /> a. Monitoring of the work place by visual inspection, for open leaks or wet areas <br /> around tanks,pumps island and sewer or drain openings. <br /> b. Monitoring of the work place for strong odors of gasoline and other <br /> hydrocarbons around tanks,pump islands and sewers of drains. <br /> c. Detection or unusual and large amounts of dead vegetation around or <br /> immediate to this facility. <br /> d. Periodic inspection of underground tanks for leakage. <br /> e. Inventory control procedures to reveal potential leaks. <br /> f. Owner review of workplace materials. <br /> 5. Chemicals a. —c. present the following hazards: <br /> a. All are flammable. <br /> b. All are solvents that dissolve natural body oils, which can lead to dermatitis or <br /> skin irritation. <br /> c. All may contain minute traces of benzene,which is a carcinogen. Carcinogens <br /> are substances that may cause cancer. <br /> 6. Measures you can take to protect yourself from hazards are: <br /> a. Minimize contact by wearing gloves. <br /> b. Do not smoke when handling flammable materials. <br /> c. Wash your hands with soap and water after contact. <br /> d. Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors. <br /> e. Keep your face away from nozzle and gas tank. <br /> f. Keep these materials sway from your eyes and skin. <br /> g.
