• Flexiblederground Piping Systems
August 1, 1997
IlmT 4 '1 'C4.3'` tl iC]C
\,
Enviroflex° System Specifications
The retractable underground fuel primary piping system shall be comprised of UL/ULC listed
primary and secondary components for use with petroleum products and/or alcohol-gasoline
mixtures. The piping system must be installed per the manufacturer's instructions and all
federal, state and local codes and regulations. The installed system shall have the capability of
pressure testing the primary and secondary piping at regular time intervals. The primary and
secondary system shall be installed with the correct pipe slope for fluid leakage monitoring.
The piping must also meet the following criteria.
The Primary Pressure Piping Shall:
1. Be continuous from tank sump to dispenser sump or transition area.
2. Have all pipe joints secondarily contained and accessible by maintenance personnel.
3. Have a minimum pressure rating of 50 psig.
4. Have a minimum burst pressure of five (5) times the rated pressure.
5. Be flexible and have a minimum bend radius of 12 inches or less without kinking,
breaking or cracking.
6. Be installed per NFPA 30 Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code and current
industry standards.
7. Be installed when ambient temperatures are between 0°F and 120°F.
8. Have sufficient strength to not collapse under full vacuum.
9. Have corrosion resistant UL/ULC tested fittings.
10. Use a cone seat with a metal washer to seal the primary fitting to transition
adaptor fittings.
11. Primary pipe must be retractable.
The Secondary Containment Piping Shall:
1. Be continuous from tank sump to dispenser sump or transition area.
2. Have all pipe joints secondarily contained and accessible by maintenance personnel.
3. Use components that allow the secondary pipe to be air tested at regular time intervals
to ensure secondary integrity.
4. Be flexible and have a minimum bend radius of 24 inches without kinking, breaking
or cracking.
5. Be installed per NFPA 30 Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code and current
industry standards.
6. Be installed when ambient temperatures are between 0°F and 120'F.
7. Be able to withstand "H-20" burial loads in accordance with AASHTO M294.
8. Be large enough to remove and replace the primary without excavation of site.
- TOTAL
CONTAINMENT,
PSP400.07(1 of s)
