v
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
20. This project involves a variance to California Administrative Code Title 23 -
Waters, Chapter 3, Subchapter 16,Article 4, Section 2641, "Monitoring
Alternatives,"Alternative #2, "Vadose Zone Monitoring."
This variance is to satisfy the requirements of the California State Department of
Health Services Health and Safety Code, Division 20, Chapter 6.7, Section 25299.4,
part (c), for a site-specific variance.
ENVIRONMENTAL SETTING
33. The project site will remain completely unchanged when the project is
implemented. A slightly sloping topography and very stable soil conditions
characterize the area. There are a few grasses in the area, but no wildlife. There
are no cultural, historical, or scenic aspects related to this project. Pictures of the
site are included.
34. The project site is surrounded by Interstate 5 and McDougal Slough to the east, the
Atcheson,Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad tracks to the south. The 5,300 barrel #6
fuel tank is located in the southeastern portion of the Gold Bond plant; therefore,
the north and west of the subject site is the Gold Bond industrial plant.
Flora found in the vicinity of the subject site include sycamore, cottonwood, willow,
and various grasses. Fauna includes rabbits and game birds such as California
quail, ring-necked pheasant, and mourning doves.
v
12gbbO3(ms3)(810.51)
