Mr. Don Gagnon y -2- 4 August 1988
- Because the local water table is shallow, approximately 15
feet in the nearest MW (1100 feet to the north) , an
interception trench may be appropriate to consider in addition
to or rather than MWs. Please prepare a discussion of the
options.
- Long-term MWs should be completed with stainless steel as
opposed to PVC because PVC will lose its integrity much more
rapidly when exposed to the chemical compounds found in the
tanks for extended time periods. PVC also loses its integrity
when exposed to sun light for long periods of time.
- The bailer used for sampling must permit accurate measurement
of floating product. Please provide bailer specifications.
- Water analyses are to include complex hydrocarbon fractions
such as PNAs (EPA GCMS method 8270 may be used for these
fractions and other heavy hydrocarbons) .
- Have permits been granted or requested from the City of
Stockton for discharge of bailed water to the sanitary sewer?
- Provide alternative methods for monitoring the two 90 barrel
tanks and sump in the courtyard of the Gold Bond building.
Upon receipt of your proposal, we will review it and, if found
complete, schedule a hearing date.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 361-5740 or Gary
S. Johnson at (916) 361-5731.
GORDON LEE BOGGS
Underground Tank Program Coordinator
GLB)GSJ:gj
cc: his.
