WEISS ASSOCIAIES _
Richard O. Norona 10
May 16, 1989
Tanks I and 6
For Tanks I and 6, we propose to drill one deep angle boring beneath each tank.
Samples from approximately 15, 20, 25, and 30 ft depths in the angle borings will be collected
for laboratory chemical analysis. The samples will be screened in the field using a PID.
The Tank 1 and 6 samples will be analyzed for ethylene and propylene glycol by gas
chromatography/flame ionization detection using a "DB Wax" mcgabore-type column.
Tank 8
We will also drill one angle boring beneath Tank 8 and one deep vertical boring at the
tank edge, as described in Task 1 above. The angle boring will be drilled beneath the tank
to about 35 ft depth. Samples collected at about 20, 25, 30 and 35 ft depth from the angled
boring will be analyzed in the laboratory.
Tank 8 soil samples will be analyzed for soluble hexavalent chromium by EPA Method
7196, colorimetric determination, and for total calcium and chloride by atomic absorption
(AA).
TASK 3 - REPORT
A report presenting the results of the investigation will be prepared. the report will
include:
• A summary of the results.
• Diagrams showing the sample locations.
• Descriptions of all work performed including discussions of any changes or
modifications to the original plan.
• Tabulated analytic results.
• Conclusions.
• Boring logs.
• Chain-of-custody forms and analytic reports.
