Ham Lane
Lodi, California
Dear Mr. Zollo:
On February 18, 2005, Blackstone Group, Ltd. (BGL) conducted an initial evaluation of
the cathodic protection systems on the referenced UST. Due to some necessary repairs
additional testing and evaluations were performed on March 4 and March 25, 2005.
BACKGROUND:
The Underground Storage Tanks were tested to evaluate the effectiveness of the cathodic
protection systems and are as follows:
• Municipal Service Center. Four Tanks (Figure 1)
• 2- Unleaded Tanks
• 1- Diesel Tank
• 1- Waste Oil Tank
Each location was initially designed with a sacrificial type cathodic protection system.
The tank manufacture supplied the tanks with STI-P3 installed zinc anodes and contractor
installed supplemental magnesium type anodes. Each of the zinc anodes are attached
directly to the tank and the remaining magnesium anodes installed around the perimeter
of the tanks. The magnesium anode wires are routed into the fuel tank pit and terminated
on a test board (Figure 2)
