GeoSyntec Consultants
The north side of each well box and PVC well casing will be surveyed for elevation
and location by a licensed surveyor. This information will be used to develop a
groundwater elevation contour map from which the groundwater flow direction beneath
the site can be inferred. Format of the survey will be compatible with State Water
Resources Control Board(SWRCB) GeoTracker database.
All investigation-derived waste materials will be contained and stored on site
pending appropriate disposal. Purge water and decontamination water will be contained
in tanks or drums, labeled, and remain at the facility, pending appropriate disposal.
Before leaving the site, GeoSyntec will collect a composite sample of the purge water
and decontamination water and a composite sample of the soil cuttings from each well
for waste classification.
4.3 Pre-iniection Groundwater Sampling and Analysis
Groundwater samples will be collected from the new performance monitoring wells
and nearby existing monitoring wells to document the groundwater geochemistry and
COC concentrations before starting the pilot test. Pre-injection groundwater samples
will be collected from wells PM-1, PM-2, E-1, and MW-8. The pre-injection sampling
will be performed at least one week after the new wells PM-1 and PM-2 have been
developed.
Groundwater samples will be collected from each well according to the following
procedures:
• purging and sampling equipment will be cleaned in a solution of
laboratory-grade detergent and distilled water and rinsed with distilled water;
• the water level and total depth at each well will be measured and recorded;
• wells will be purged using a bailer or submersible pump;
• during purging, general water quality parameters (pH, specific conductance,
turbidity, and temperature) will be periodically measured and recorded;
WC05038 Final.doc 12 7/21/2005
