r
Mr. W.T. Nickerson • - 2 - 24 January 2002
During the review of the sampling history at the site,we find that organochlorine
compounds, triazine compounds, and organophosphate compounds were only analyzed
from one monitoring well. These compounds are present in soil at the site, and we cannot
determine that these compounds are not present in groundwater on the basis of one
sample. Therefore, please obtain two consecutive analyses for the organochlorine
compounds (EPA Method 8081A), triazine compounds (EPA Method 619), and
organophosphate compounds (EPA Method 8141) from the following monitoring wells
that are in or downgradient of operations areas: MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-6, and
MW-8. You may include these analytes in your regularly scheduled monitoring events.
Alternatively, you may provide data showing that these compounds were previously
analyzed for and not detected. We look forward to seeing the first of these results in the
next monitoring report which is due 30 April 2002.
Board staff oversight of UNOCAL's Stockton site is transitioning to Ms. Devra Lewis.
She is reviewing Sierra-Pacific Group's July 2001 Hydrogeology Report and will provide
comments under separate cover.
If you have any questions, you may contact me at(916) 255-3080, or Ms. Devra Lewis at
IT
-311 .RRELL
Private Sites Cleanup Unit
Enclosure
cc: Mr. Michael hifuma, San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Stockton
Mr. Eric Chase, Sierra-Pacific Group, El Dorado Hills
