Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants, Inc.
Geologists, Engineers, and Compliance Specialists l
December 9, 1996
Mr. W.T. Nickerson, Project Manager
Unocal ERS
2000 Crow Canyon Place, Suite 400
San Ramon, California 94583
Subject: Third-Quarter 1996, Quarterly Monitoring Report, Former PureGro Facility at 1905 North
Broadway Avenue, Stockton, PureGro Site No. 771165, Unocal Order/Contract: 34402-1,
Sierra-Pacific Project No. 94-055
Dear Mr. Nickerson:
The Third-Quarter 1996 Monitoring Report is enclosed for your consideration. Copies have been sent to
all the appropriate persons. Eight monitoring wells located at, or near, the former PureGro/Brea Broadway
agricultural-chemical (ag-chem) facility were sampled and measured on 23-24 September 1996. Analytical
results from this monitoring event are largely consistent with previous results. The water table lowered an
average of 14.5 feet from the March 1996 levels. Ground water continues to flow south-southwest.
The fumigant 1,2-DCP, and traces of other volatile halocarbon compounds, were detected in ground-water
samples from MW-1, MW-2, MW-5, MW-6, and MW-8. 1,2-DCP concentrations appear to have
originated from the north pond and tank farm areas. Traces of chlorinated (phenoxy) herbicides were
detected in ground-water samples from MW-2, MW-5, and MW-8, with 21 ug/1 Dinoseb detected in a water
;ample from MW-8. Nitrate concentrations were detected in each of the water samples, and appear to be
)roadly distributed within the uppermost saturated zone.
lease call if you have any questions or further directives.
ncerely,
ERRA-PACIFIC GROUNDWATER CONSULTANTS, INC.
n ephen app, CEG 1133
for Engineering Geologist
/jb
osures
Jan Wagoner, Unocal
Wendy Wyels, RWQCB
Michael Infurna, San Joaquin County
(916)933-1468
Windplay Drive,Suite 4 EI Dorado Hills,California 95762
(916)933-3197 FAX
