(Sierra-Pacific) <br /> on behalf of Unocal. Sierra-Pacific contacted Unocal and Western Farm Service by telephone to <br /> confirm long-term use of the proposed new asphaltic pads at the subject site. Unocal proposed <br /> capping the north and south pond areas with asphaltic concrete to prevent downward infiltration <br /> of surface water. A composite/bentonite liner, although it is more expensive than Portland cement <br /> or asphaltic concrete, is scheduled for installation at Broadway. In combination with Class II ABM <br /> and asphaltic concrete pavement, a composite liner provides the greatest durability, strength, and <br /> impermeability at a realistic cost. <br /> Western Farm Services has indicated to Unocal and Sierra-Pacific that the new asphaltic concrete <br /> pad areas will be used for equipment parking. Clean ag-chem trucks and trailers will be staged <br /> on the new pads. Tractors will be restricted to unpaved areas south of the south evaporation pond <br /> area. <br /> The contractor bid package has been sent to you. Any slight modifications to the plan due to <br /> contractor recommendations will be copied to you ASAP.
