Box 388
Stockton, California 95201-0388
Subject: Permit Applications, Proposed Monitoring Well Installation, Chronicle Avenue or Lewis
Street, Stockton, California, and Proposed Monitoring Well Abandonment, PureGro/Brea
Facility, 1905 North Broadway Avenue, Stockton, California, Sierra-Pacific Project No.
94-055.03
Dear Mr. Infurna:
Enclosed are several items which accompany two applications for permits. The first application is
for installation of a monitoring well on the street southwest of the PureGroBrea agricultural
chemical facility near Waterloo Road in Stockton, California. This is the third off-site monitoring
well to be installed for this project. Our approach on this well installation will be to find a place
outside of the impacted groundwater area. Since we do not know at present exactly where the edge
of the affected area is, our procedure will be to drill a soil boring to intercept the groundwater, and
to take a quick grab sample for analysis. If the target compounds are present, we will grout up this
hole and re-pave the street. We will then move to a first alternate point on Lewis Street,
approximately fifty (50) feet west of its intersection with Chronicle Avenue (see enclosed map) and
drill another boring. If this second grab sample is also within the affected groundwater area, we
will grout the second hole, re-pave the street, move to a second alternate point, located on Lewis
Street approximately 100 feet west of its intersection with Chronicle Avenue. Only one monitoring
well will be built, when a clean area is found. We will forward the completed well location to you
when the work is finished.
Enclosed is a permit application signed by a representative of Unocal Corporation, who will own
the installed well. Also enclosed are a copy of the workplan and a copy of the letter from Central
Valley Region, RWQCB approving the workplan. We have enclosed a check in the amount of
$89.00 for the permit fee.
(916)933-1468
4911 Windplay Drive,Suite 4 EI Dorado Hills,California 95762 (916)933-3197 FAX
