MW-4 is located within
former southern pond. the area of the
Staff have had several discussions with Siena Pacific and Unocal about remediating the
excavated. However, Unocal's current remedial proposal is not
south pond soils, and agreed that MW-4 would need to be abandoned if the pond soils were
to excavate any soil, but to
cap the former pond. With this scenario, MW-4 would not need to be abandoned.
Because the final remedial measure has not yet been determined for the south pond, I feel
that it is premature to decommission MW-4.
If you have any questions, I can be reached at (916) 255-3104.
U3Ujj/-)
WENDY WYELS
Ag Regulatory Unit
cc: Mr. Nick Nickerson, Unocal, San Ramon
Mr. Mike Infurna, San Joaquin County Public Health Service, Stockton
