' Aquifer Testing Work Plan <br /> Former PureGro <br /> Broadway <br /> Facility <br /> ' Stockton, <br /> North Broadway Avenue - <br /> Stockton,California <br /> Sierra-Pacific Project No. 94-055.05 <br /> A diagrammatic depiction of the proposed extraction and observation wells is presented on Figure 8. <br /> ' After completion of well designs, the drilling contractor will be re-mobilized for observation well <br /> construction, development, and testing. <br /> ' 4.5 Install Single or Nested Observation Wells <br /> ' The single or nested observation wells will be constructed using 2-inch-diameter Schedule 40 PVC well <br /> casing and screen. The perforated intervals will consist of 2-inch slotted PVC casing. Final decisions <br /> ' on screen sizes will be made in the field after examining the sample cores. Threaded PVC caps will be <br /> secured to the bottoms of each casing. Factory cleaned two-inch-diameter Schedule 40 PVC well casing <br /> ' will be extended from the perforated casing to approximately 2 feet above the ground surface. The top <br /> of the well casing will be plugged with a 2-inch expansible cap. <br /> ' After setting the casing inside the hollow-stem auger, selected filter pack sand will be poured into the <br /> ' annular space to fill the boring to approximately 2 feet above the perforated intervals. The wells will <br /> be lightly surged to compact the filter-sand around the casings. If the filter-sand drops during surging, <br /> ' additional sand will be added to bring the sand level to approximately 2 feet above the screened interval. <br /> Two to 5 feet of hydrated bentonite chips will be placed over the column of filter sand. Portland cement <br /> ' grout will be placed in the annular space from the top of the bentonite plug to within 3 feet of the <br /> surface. Portland cement concrete will be placed within the upper 3 feet of the boring. A 5 foot steel <br /> standpipe,with a steel cover,will be installed to protect the exposed PVC well casing. Approximately <br /> 2.5 feet of the stand pipe will be set in concrete. <br /> ' Nested two-inch observation wells,if required,will be constructed beginning with the lowest screened <br /> interval, with each screened interval separated and isolated from other aquifer intervals with hydrated <br /> ' bentonite chips. Nested wells will be installed in over-bored 12-inch soil borings.
