Additionally, <br /> ' the same data will be imported into the Surfer®for Windows software, authored by Golden Software, <br /> Inc.of Golden,Colorado. Ground water contours and cones of depression will be modeled using Surfer <br /> ' for Windows for the aquifer tests. <br /> ' Mathematical relationships and equations used to estimate the hydraulic conductivity and transmissivity <br /> of sediments are founded on several assumptions. Some of the hydrogeologic assumptions required to <br /> perform mathematic aquifer analyses are paraphrased as follows from Groundwater and Wells(Driscoll, <br /> 1986,p. 214). These hydrogeologic factors relate to natural subsurface conditions at the subject site. <br /> To accommodate the mathematics of a formal aquifer test, water-bearing materials should have a <br /> ' uniform hydraulic conductivity within the radius of influence of the wells. Alluvial formations beneath <br /> the Broadway site are heterogenous (different) when observed or measured at a large scale,(close-in). <br /> ' When these formations are observed or measured at a small scale (over a broad area), the alluvial <br /> formations are more uniform. The instrumented observation wells will be installed to encompass a <br /> ' broad area of the subject aquifer and thereby minimize the effect of geologic heterogeneity. The aquifer <br /> should not be stratified, and the saturated thickness should be constant, before pumping starts. The <br /> ' aquifer should exhibit laminarf ow throughout the aquifer within the radius of inf uence ofthe pumping <br /> ' well. The aquifer at the Broadway site, although stratified, is generally uniform in saturated thickness. <br /> ' To accommodate the mathematics of a formal aquifer test, the pumping well is supposed to be perfectly <br /> efficient, and draw-down levels inside and just outside the well bore are assumed to be at the same <br /> elevation during the tests. The screened interval of the pumping well is supposed to penetrate the entire <br /> aquifer.
