/
OEOMATPIK
indicates that exposure to residual petroleum constituents present in soil and groundwater
should not pose an unacceptable health risk to hypothetical future on-site residents under
the conditions evaluated In addition, based on the conservative nature of the PEA
evaluation, the presence of residual petroleum constituents in soil and groundwater
should also not pose an unacceptable human health risk to future commercial and
construction workers at the site. In an April 27,2000 letter;DISC stated that the
analytical data were adequate in both quantity and quality and the residual levels of
petroleum-related hydrocarbons in soils are below levels that would constitute an
unacceptable risk to human health and the envirornnent. In the investigation discussed in
this report, low concentrations of BTEX constituents were detected in the grab
groundwater sample from GMX-29,which is located within affected soil on the Pombo
Property. These constituents had not been detected in groundwater at the time that the
human health screening evaluation was completed Geomatnx will reassess risk at the
site when investigation activities are complete and no additional data are planned to be
collected It should be noted that BTEX has not been detected in groundwater off-site
and the findings of the PEA evaluation remain unchanged in the off-site arm
cvwc_sarew000swaa.MTONIDo soacw aenaovoo_DOC 8
