Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring,Remediation Status Report&
g P
Sod Boring Verification Workplan
Moore Petroleum,Inc, 1399E Yosemite Ave,Manteca,CA
March 26, 1996
Page 3
' horizontal piping (HORM) and filters the vapors through two in-brie 2001b carbon absorption
filters prior to atmospheric release The carbon absorption vapor extraction system was started
on July 5, 1995 and operated continuously through August 4, 1995, at which time vapor
hydrocarbons concentrations fell below laboratory detection hmrts System operating data is
contained in Table 3 Table 4 contains calculated daily extraction rates based on laboratory
tanalytical reports for the vapor extraction system.
From August 1995 through December 1995, the soil vapor extraction system was in a pulse mode
where the system is turned on and vapor readings are recorded with a flame ionization detector
(FID) on a monthly basis If petroleum concentrations are zero on the FID, then the system is
i turned off The purpose of this monthly pulsing was to extract any remaining hydrocarbon vapors
in the surrounding soils, if any Table 5A through 5E contains monthly system pulse data On
December 19, 1995, no hydrocarbon vapors were detected from either MW-1B or from the
' honzontalpiping Asa result of the lack of hydrocarbon vapors, the vapor extraction system was
permanently turned off on this date
VERIFICATION SOIDL BORINGS
Apex proposes to drill two angle soil borings(VSB-1 and VSB-2)for the purpose of verifying the
i absence of petroleum impacted soil beneath the former tank basin Figure 4 shows the locations
of the two proposed angle soil borings
' The two proposed verification soil borings will be drilled at an angle of 30 degrees measured from
vertical Sort sampling will begin at 15 feet of drilled depth, which is 12 feet below grade Soil
samples will be collected at drilled depth of 15, 20 and 25 feet This corresponds to 12, 16 and 20
feet below grade The sic soil samples, three from each boring, will be analyzed for TPK as
gasoline, and BTEX
RECOMMENDATIONS
All groundwater samples collected from the six monitoring wells located at the subject site have
not contained detectable levels of TPI, as gasoline, or BTEX for the last three quarters All six
on-site wells will be quarterly sampled for 1 more quarter in.the month of May 1996 If quarterly
sampling results and verification soil boring samples are below laboratory detection limits for
TPH, as gasoline, and BTEX, Apex will then request site closure
i
