Step 3: Clean the Spill <br /> The third and final step in responding to a fuel spill is to clean up the spill. <br /> If you haven't already done so, put on rubber gloves and goggles. Then use absorbent pads <br /> or Sphag Sorb to absorb the fuel. <br /> Absorbent Pads <br /> • Place the pads on the spill. <br /> • Wait several minutes until the fuel is absorbed. <br /> • Then use the pads to wipe up any excess fuel. <br /> • Place the used absorbent pads in one of the yellow bags. <br /> Sphag Sorb <br /> • Pour the Sphag Sorb on the spill. <br /> • Wait several minutes for the Sphag Sorb to absorb the fuel. <br /> • Sweep or scoop the Sphag Sorb into a dust pan or bucket. <br /> • Place the Sphag Sorb in one of the yellow bags. <br /> • Once the absorbent pads or Sphag Sorb is in a yellow bag, attach a "Hazardous" <br /> label on the bag. <br /> • Finally, put the yellow bags, and any other material you used to clean up the spill, <br /> into the 55-gallon drums labeled for absorbent material disposal. <br /> 16 <br />
