4.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
1 PSI drilled two borings and collected soil and groundwater samples on January 25, 2008. The
results of the investigation are summarized below.
• Boring B1 was drilled adjacent to two hydraulic hoists at Sanchez Smog. Soil samples were
collected at 5-foot intervals starting at 10 feet to a total depth of 30 feet bgs. The soil sample
' analytical results indicted TPH-G concentrations ranging from 30 to 49 mg/kg and TPH-D
concentrations ranging from 24 to 29 mg/kg. None of the soil samples had detectable
concentrations of VOCs or TPH-MO. All of the TPH-G and TPH-D concentrations were
below their respective ESL's.
• Boring B2 was drilled immediately downgradient of the former USTs. The groundwater
' sample did not have detectable concentrations of TPH-G or TPH-D. The only VOC
detected was tert-butyl benzene at 2.3 ug/I. The tert-butyl benzene concentration was
below its PRG.
' Based on the soil and groundwater analytical results, it does not appear that the TPH-G and TPH-
D found in the soil samples and the tert-butyl benzene found in the groundwater sample are
above regulatory limits. Therefore, PSI does not believe that the site closure would be
' reconsidered by the SJEHD. PSI does not recommend any further action associated with the
issues investigated.
' If future site development includes disturbance and possible removal of soil and/or groundwater
from the site, it is likely that petroleum hydrocarbon impacted material will be encountered and
will need to be dealt with in an appropriate manner. This may include special handling and
' disposal of contaminated material.
1
1
7
