Cc OAKLAND PO 7/1
J
8810197TWP CON-4
The soil cuttings from the borings will be stored on-site in 55-gallon
drums, and appropriately labeled by WCC personnel pending the results of
chemical analyses. If the chemical test results show that the soils and
ground water encountered are not hazardous in accordance with state
criteria, then they may be disposed of at the site. If the chemical test
results show the soils are hazardous then they can remain in the drums at
the site in a fenced area up to 90 days. Groundwater removed from the
wells during sampling and development operations will be settled in 55-
gallon drums and the supernatent disposed to the on-site acid waste
treatment system during the weekend at rates not to exceed 2,000 gallons
per. day.
Relative surface elevations of the new monitoring wells will be accurately
determined by surveying. An accurate site plan will then be prepared
showing all monitoring well locations and elevations at the site. With
this information, site hydrogeology would be determined and presented in
plan and profile drawings. These drawings would include an accurate
determination of shallow ground-water elevation contours, flow directions
and gradients. They would also depict the presence of any substantial
vertical ground-water barrier(s), e.g. , a clay aquitard, which may underlie
the shallow ground-water zone.
Soil and ground-water samples will be obtained following standard sampling
and equipment decontamination procedures. Prior to and during all field
exploration operations, the drilling equipment will be thoroughly cleaned
using a high pressure steam cleaner. Between soil sampling intervals,
sampling equipment will also be thoroughly cleaned using the steam
cleaner. Brass soil sample tubes, glass VOA bottles and teflon bailers
will be cleaned using an Alconox detergent solution followed by a triple
deionized water rinse. Ground-water samples will be taken only after at
least 3 to 5 well casing volumes of ground-water have been pumped from the'
t
