The formal inspection frequency of 5 years has been selected by the certified inspector.Category 2 tanks between 5,001
gallons and 30,000 gallons with a formal inspection schedule of 5 years will also require a leak test every 10 years by
owner or owner's designee per STI guidelines. I would recommend discussing this with the plan writer. All testing
associated with the standard should be discussed in the plan.
The inspection frequency and categories can be found here. This is based on the 5`h edition of the standard. The 6'
edition is the most current version but the frequencies are the same.
Here is the definition of CRDM per the STI SP-001 standard–
CONTINUOUS RELEASE DETECTION METHOD (CRDM)–A means of detecting a release of liquid through
inherent design. CRDM is passive because it does not require sensors or power to operate. Liquid releases
are visually detected by facility operators (See Appendix A for additional information). The system shall be
designed in accordance with good engineering practice. Several acceptable and commonly used CRDM
systems are:
• Release prevention barrier (RPB) (described in definition of "Release prevention barrier")
• Double-wall AST or double-bottom AST
• Elevated AST, with or without release prevention barrier
• Steel diked AST, open or closed top
• Concrete exterior AST (CE-AST) with an integral secondary containment and interstitial monitoring opening
Feel free to contact me with any questions.
FREE classes presented by NES Inc. are available to all San Joaquin County Hazardous Waste, Underground Storage Tank,
and Aboveground Petroleum Storage Facility Business Owners and Operators. List and schedule of classes can be found
here.
Thankyou,
Cesar Ruvalcaba
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Environmental Health Specialist
1868 East Hazelton Ave
Stockton,CA 95205
$ (209)953-62131 A (209)464-01381 ® crui Rov.ore
SANJADUIN
F P `a.
—GOtJNTY—
Gremn<n g+owr hero
From:Vignon-Fernandez, Denisse<DVIG NON Cn)nwpipe.com>
Sent:Tuesday, May 7,2019 11:50 AM
To: Ruvalcaba,Cesar<cruvalcabaC@siaov.ora>
Subject: RE:APSA/SPCC inspection report response-10100 W.
