SEP-30-2010 15:31 T' - BOY TRAILERS 2092397026 P.02
1 uTT bay bales, inc.
3870 W. Yosemite Ave.
Lathrop, CA 95337
Phone: (209) 858-4131 • Fax: (209) 858-2835
October 01, 2010
Ben Escotto
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Dept.
600 E. Main St_
Stockton, CA 95202
Rei Second response to SJCEHD letter dated August 19, 2010
Dear Mr. Escotto,
Thank you for allowing Tuff Boy sufficient time to review the information presented in your
August 19, 2010 letter,
During the review process, Tuff Boy investigated the specific waste tire regulations found in Title
14 of the California Code of Regulations (T14CCR), which was cited in your August 19, 2010
response.
Currently, Tuff Boy is preparing to move forward with the steps necessary to have its tire
handling operation re-categorized, aligning its used and waste tire handling activities to meet
the goals and needs of SJCEHD,.
Prior to taking final action, a few questions remain for Tuff Boy as it seeks further clarification to
the SJCEHD response to the twenty-five questions submitted by Tuff Boy to SJCEHD in its
August 11, 2010 correspondence.
With this in mind, Tuff Boy prepared several questions and comments related to SJCEHD'S
response for each of the twenty-five questions submitted by Tuff Boy to SJCEHD on August 11,
2010.
1. Tuff Boy question submitted to SJCEHD on August 11, 2010,
If Tuff Boy chooses to add a tire dealership category to its present business operation,
would the Tuff Boy operations need to undergo any modifications to our facility to
become compliant with SJCEHD?
SJCEHD response to Tuff Boy on August 19, 2010.
If Tuff Boy changes their category to a tire dealer, no physical modification to the facility
would be required by the EHD. Tuff Boy would be allowed up to 1,500 waste tires on-
site.
Additional comments/questions by Tuff Boy submitted to SJCEHD on
October 01, 2010:
a. Title 14 Section 17350 indicates that for facilities storing 500 or more waste tires
outdoors, compliance with Section 17351 through 17355 is mandatory. Based on
current operating practices, it is Tuff Boy's intent not to store over 500 true waste
tires at any one time.
1.
