I have located many of the manifests you requested. I am sure the others
are available but finding which division they went to is difficult at best. In each of our facilities
vehicle maintenance is managed by an equipment division of Caltrans. I have tried to correct this
problem in all 23 of our facilities in eight counties with manifests for mechanics waste. When the
disposal company takes the waste the mechanics attaches the manifest to the invoice and sends it
to the Stockton Shop headquarters. Ideally they should make a copy and sent the copy to the
shop and give the original to the facility supervisor. This happens at some facilities with other
mechanics but apparently not at all. Once the shop accumulates all eight county,23 maintenance
stations invoices with manifests they become more difficult to find. Hence I will need to search
for the remaining manifests.
#27-This container has been closed.
#57- Most of the manifests that show the incorrect address were written prior to changes made
by Caltrans to use a set format for manifests. There were also changes since 2007 of the
numbering of the addresses by the postal service. The latest manifests show the proper address.
CAS# has been used for waste that the facility did not generate. Caltrans has a variance
from DTSC (attached) for transportation of small quantities from on highway spills. In order to
keep this waste from being added to our generated waste we use the OES number for the county
that the spill occurred in. Please provide more direction if this is the improper procedure to
manifest spills with.
#20- Labels have been corrected and waste has been removed from area by the area supervisor.
This is a new supervisor and is still learning the particulars of managing wastes. I will encourage
him to enroll in the training the county offers.
Steve Rodarte
Haz Mat Manager
"Calinm improves mobility across California
