Page 8
May 5, 2014
Project Number 2014-03-005
other metals in soils may exceed their respective soil CHHSLs. Cal/EPA generally does not require
cleanup of soil to below background levels. This issue is frequently encountered with arsenic.
Natural background concentrations of arsenic in California are often well above the health-based,
direct-exposure goals in soil of 0.07 mg/kg for residential land use and 0.24 mg/kg for
commercial/industrial land use (e.g., Bradford et. al, 1996; LBNL 2002). Background
concentration of arsenic or other metals of potential concern at a site should be determined from
analysis of site-specific samples in uncontaminated areas using guidance published by CaIfEPA
and/or reference to published data for nearby sites (Cal/EPA 1997). However, background data for
nearby sites may only be used as a surrogate for uncontaminated site data if those data are
obtained from soil of the same lithology as that found on-site. (California EPA, 2005)
4. FINDINGS
The properties are located at 3261 Auto Center Circle Stockton, CA 95212. The property is
identified by its APN(s)as 12802013. The purpose of the Phase II was to evaluate the soils adjacent
to the oil/water separator as a result of past operations.
The Soils indicated no detectable impacts from petroleum hydrocarbons and its constituents.
5. OPINION
The Phase II sampling indicated that no detectable impacts to the soils adjacent to the oil/water
separator in the facility exist at this time.
©ENVIRO ASSESS ENVIRONMENTAL•ENGINEERING•GEOLOGY
PO BOX 1154,BONNERS FERRY,ID 83805 PHONE(877)629-6838 FAX(877)623-5493
